Meet The First Lady of The Acornhoek House Scene

Lowdown on a future first lady Of House Music

 

 

It’s not every day an 18year old girl dares to go head-to-head with the boys, and challenge them on a field that’s known to be a male dominated industry, especially in Acornhoek. Zakithi Mathebula is one youngster who’s got hear eye on conquering the international club scene but first, this young lady from Timbavati Trust wants to claim what’s hers and has her eye set on being the 1^st lady of house music in Acornhoek. She gave SL the Lowdown on her life and a promising career that’s ahead of her.

1ST LADY OF ACORNHOEK HOUSE
 

DJ Zakie, as she’s known by her peers, is a young talented shy little girl, who’s on the right path of becoming an instant hit upon discovery. She’s down to earth, humble and respectful, which goes a long way in the industry that she’s about to embark on.  Just chatting to her makes one wonder if really girls her age still feel and behave the way she does. As if it’s not enough that this little girl is talented, she knows her place in the world and acts her age. This rising star completed her matric in 2011 but didn’t get the opportunity to further her studies like other matriculants do, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to achieve what she says is her purpose in life. “I fell in love with music while doing grade 7, music makes me relax and raises all my inner emotion whether happy or sad,” DJ Zakie says. So there’s no prize for guessing that she’s a big music fanatic.

Although she’s from a small remote area in Bushbuckridge, she dreams of one day becoming the world’s best female DJ, alongside her inspiration, DJ Zinhle who’s one of the best South African female DJs making international strides. “I’m also inspired by DJ DaCapo” said Zakhiti giggling, leaving suspicion of a possible crush. Typical normal playful teenage girl behavior.  She also mentions she loves hanging with friends and just doing what ordinary teens do, if she’s not horning her skills behind the decks that is.

YOUNG AT HEART
 

 Her plans include being a household club Dj who will make people dance their butts off. “I see myself playing for big crowds in the near future” she says in her soft voice.  Pursuing music has always been her number one priority, no doubt about that.

She then takes us to her favorite spot in the entire world, behind the decks, showing the SL crew a lil bit of what she is made of, and DAMN!  She can mix a beat or two, all thanks to Stabuza Entertainment who took her in

And asked if she’d recommend her 1^st love to other young females Zakie said “have passion since you can’t do this without it. Be focused on what you want to achieve” . SL
